Patriot League Schedule Continues with Wednesday Action
All ten teams will be in action on Wednesday, with all five games airing live and for free on the Patriot League Network beginning at 7 p.m. Now that a third of the season is already over, the competition is really heating up and a few story lines are emerging. Three teams sit a 1-5 in League play and two of them will hit the court to faceoff for the first time this season, when Boston University hosts Colgate. The two teams at .500 -- Lehigh and Navy -- will also compete against each other, after both secured wins over the weekend. Lafayette will head to our nation’s capital to take on American, two teams that are both on a two-game losing skid. Army West Point took over sole possession of second place in the standings after Holy Cross’ loss to Lehigh, but the Crusaders will challenge the Black Knights for the spot at Christl Arena. Finally, the League leading Bison -- who are 6-0 for the first time in League place since the 1999-2000 season -- will look to extend its streak when they welcome Loyola Maryland.
Navy Moves Into NCAA Record Books
After Saturday’s 65-58 overtime win at Lafayette, Navy tallied its sixth overtime contest of the season and tied the 1998-99 Wisconsin team for the NCAA record of the most overtime games in a single season. Earlier in the season, the Mids also tied the Badgers for the most consecutive overtime games in a single season of four-straight OT contests when they took Elon, Siena, Colorado State, and LIU Brooklyn to extra frames. Navy is 3-3 in overtime and 1-1 in double overtime this season.
